In the modern world, despite its high technology, there are still various signs, customs and amulets that have been preserved and passed down from our ancestors. A large number of them can be bought in some specialty stores at an overpriced price, which is completely unnecessary!
We offer you an alternative solution so that you make a lucky amulet with your own hands from improvised means! It won't take much time, but it will definitely give you enough fun and enjoyment.
From the past
Before telling you how to make a lucky amulet with your own hands, we will briefly tell you its history. And we will talk about the amulet dolls that were popular with our ancestors.
Usually, they frequented the wives, mistresses and caretakers of the household. Such a lucky amulet should have been carefully kept in a secluded place so that no one could disturb and anger her in some way.
Since the common population was not particularly famous for its great wealth, the doll was created from improvised materials, scraps, scraps of fabric, straw and wood. A lucky amulet can even be passed down from generation to generation, but if you don't have one, we can easily make it ourselves!
From the craftsman by shred
To find materials for this craft, just check your bins, because there is definitely something in it. So, you will not only use the trimmings, but also make an amulet for luck and money with your own hands.
What do you need:
- Mouliné yarn. It is better to take red or white colors, which best combine with the folk style. We will need less than half, so you can use toppings.
- Various pieces of fabric. It is better to choose natural, because it is much easier to work with them, due to their properties that make them closer to paper or cardboard.
- Linen fiber. We will use it to create the hair, thanks to its texture; and you can buy it in any store with natural products.
- Scissors.
The first master class: doll-bereginya
- From a white linen fabric we create a column of any length and width, to be tied in three places with a thread. This will be the body of the future amulet.
- Cut out a large square from the same fabric and, folding it into a triangle at one end, create a silhouette of the head and arms. We fix everything with a red or white wire.
- We separate the palms from the resulting "wings" with a thread, in the same way as we make a belt.
- We make a shirt from a bright cotton fabric, cutting it out according to its shape and fixing it with threads in the same way. It is important to note that a do-it-yourself amulet for luck is created without a needle and, of course, without glue. Such materials are not welcome here, because they take our talisman away from its ancestors.
- You can also decorate the shirt with shiny ribbons with ornaments, lace or beads, but do not overdo it, because, first of all, this is a folk doll.
- For the skirt, we cut out a large circle with a slit in the center, lay it on the amulet, and then fasten it with a thread from the wrong side. It can also be decorated as desired with ribbons, pearls, flowers or embroidery.
- Now we take linen, divide it in the center with a thread with which we fix the hair to the head, carefully hiding the knots.
- We braid a braid with the addition of ribbons, create a scarf from a fabric triangle and tie its ends around the neck in several turns.
- We put various grains, seeds and herbs in a separate piece of fabric, put coins and tie a knot, tying it with a thread in the doll's hand. It symbolizes prosperity in the house, wealth and luck, which this ready-made amulet will certainly bring you!
For any occasion
How to make a lucky amulet so that it will fit in a palm, but at the same time so as not to lose it - of course, make bags from various herbs that will attract happiness, prosperity and wealth to your home.
You probably all know that our ancestors paid great attention to various herbs and berries, giving them various magical properties. And nothing better than to take the plants, dry them, then put them in small bags that are very easy to distribute throughout the house!
For everything and for everything
We will not take long and immediately begin to tell what herbs can be used to make an amulet to bring good luck to your home.
We will only describe the most affordable, easy to find for all of us:
- The birch is the patron saint of the hearth and female happiness.
- Elderberry is a magical healing power.
- Elm - intelligence and wisdom.
- Oak - knowledge.
- Spruce - longevity and health.
- Willow - protection against damage and the evil eye.
- The clover is a success.
- Nettle, linden, fern, thistle, wormwood, rowan, sage, hops and celandine - these are just a few of those plants that may be suitable for us to create a lucky and wealthy amulet at home.
Second master class: a bag of happiness
For such a product, you will have to prepare in advance, and better yet, if in the summer. It is during this season that all plants are at the level when they combine both beauty and natural aroma. So, collect all the herbs you need and dry them in the sun. It's the fastest and easiest way to get the materials you need for the job in a matter of days.
While the plants are drying, we sew small burlap bags ourselves. They can also be decorated with ribbons, embroidery or buttons. For the strings we take red silk threads.
When all the ingredients are ready, fill the sachets with herbs. You can do it not to the end, so that later it is not difficult to close it, or, on the contrary, you can fill it so that dried flowers come out from above. We fix everything with our hands and our threads, without the help of glue, and then we drop the bags all over the house so that the lucky amulet works for sure!
Taste and color
If the previous two options do not suit you, we offer you another alternative option: a wooden amulet to bring good luck!
Its essence is that it can be made not only as a pendant, but also as a brooch, ring or keychain. And it's also very cool that the product is environmentally friendly, because we will avoid using various chemicals, such as varnishes. We will replace them with coloring oils, if necessary.
And for the manufacture you only need a small piece of thin wood, a combustion device, sketches, sketches and accessories for further operation.
The third master class: a wooden amulet for luck and money
File the piece of wood to the desired shape with a file, then gently sand the edges to remove any sharp chips or chips. Also prepare the hole for the fittings in advance.
Apply a pencil drawing to one side, then heat the burner, then add depth and color to the drawing. Add details and letters, let the product cool.
For more durability, treat the surface of the wood with a special oil or replace it with linseed oil. This will not only add color, but also make the amulet waterproof.
After absorbing the oil, the accessory can be safely put on a string as a pendant, glued to the base for rings, brooches or the like. You can leave it like that and, for example, put it in a secret pocket of the bag you are traveling with. So luck and happiness will always be with you!
For restful sleep
The following idea is ideal for those who want not only to get an amulet for good luck, but also to decorate the interior of their own bedroom. We are talking about a fairly popular dream catcher, which also dates back a very long time.
Most likely, its first creators were the Indians, who made a talisman to catch bad dreams and nightmares and hung over the head of the sleeping person. We are going to create such an elegant amulet today:
- Take a ring of any diameter, depending on the desired size of the dream catcher, and wrap it to the full length with wire or tape. There should be no space between them so that the base is not visible.
- As soon as the hoop is ready, we begin to weave a spider's web, adding sequins, beads and various decorations.
- Thus, circle by circle, we fill in the "interiors" of the dream catcher, obtaining a weaving similar to a spider's web. Once you are done, carefully lock the wire and hide it.
- Now is the time to decorate the amulet for calm and peaceful sleep. This can be done with feathers glued directly to the weaving strands or suspended by the strands at the edge of the hoop. There you can also add big beads, ribbons and whatever else you can find in your inventory. Even seashells can be perfect for decorating that whole image.
- It only remains to form a loop with which you can hang the dream catcher at the head of your bed so that your dreams are only sweet and bright!
Additional ideas
Of course, lucky amulets aren't just limited to the ones we've listed for you. Therefore, here are some more interesting options for you:
- Red string. You probably already know that a charm such as an ordinary red thread, when wrapped around the wrist, is gaining popularity. Such an accessory can be easily recreated at home and decorated, for example, with personalized pendants or beads.
- Bell at home. Another easy-to-make amulet is a small bell decorated with ribbons and fabrics. He symbolizes cleanliness and goodness in your home, and the front door often becomes his place of residence. The bell itself can be covered with gold or silver paint, which will add beauty to it.
- Horseshoe. This option is very popular and is easy to buy at any home improvement store. But it's also easy to do it yourself, as all you need to do is find a base in the shape of a horseshoe, and then attach all your existing stocks to it. This list includes not only dried flowers, seeds, grains, fabrics, ribbons, but also coins. In addition, often on the horseshoe itself you can see various pretzels, candies and polymer clay fruits!
From all of the above, we can conclude: a lucky amulet is created from any material at hand. It doesn't take more than an hour, but the process itself brings not only pleasure, but also happiness and wealth to your home!
